Root Canal Therapy
Dr. Vigliotti's practice is limited to endodontics, meaning the only services he provides are those related to root canal treatment. Patients are generally seen on a referral basis only.
What is a 'Root Canal'?
Root canal therapy involves removing the living or infected tissue from the inside of a tooth. This eliminates swelling and pain while allowing you to keep your tooth.
What Should I Expect?
Most patients feel a little nervous about their root canal appointment. It's okay. Rest assured that everything will be evaluated, diagnosed, and explained to you before any treatment is rendered. And when it comes time to treat your tooth, comfort is our priority. Most root canals take about an hour, and you should not expect to be in pain for the duration of that appointment.
What's Next?
When it comes to saving your tooth, the follow up is just as important as the root canal. Dr. Vigliotti will explain that your recently-treated tooth has a provisional, or temporary, filling, and you have 2 weeks to follow up with your regular dentist for a permanent restoration. A crown is typically the recommended choice, as it provides the protection that is the most enduring and predictable. A tooth can crack and require extraction if it is not restored in a timely manner.
